Katie Holmes 'extends olive branch to Tom Cruise for the sake of Suri' Jul 6th 2012, 09:53 Katie Holmes has contacted Tom Cruise for the first time since their split to avoid a custody battle over Suri descending into 'all-out war', it has been reported. They are thought to now be on speaking terms however, with the Batman Begins actress reaching out to Tom to ensure that six-year-old Suri remains their 'priority'. She reportedly told him: 'Let's just try and get through this for the sake of Suri. 'It's not about us – she has to be our priority.' Both appreciate that things can't descend into all-out war. 'They are trying to be adult about things - not least because there are children to think about. 'Tom and Suri have talked several times since the split so it was only a matter of time before Katie spoke to Tom herself.' The source added to the Mirror: 'It's not ideal but as long as Tom gets to speak to Suri he doesn't care. 'It breaks his heart to have to speak to her on the phone – and not face to face – but hopefully that will change soon.'
