Lucy Spraggan has been asked to perform on the X Factor's live final after quitting the show yesterday due to ill health.

After saying she is 'gutted' to have to pull out of the competition, the Sun reports that the talented songwriter may return to sing on the show's final later this year.

Spraggan was given a free pass through last week's show after she was unable to perform due to ill health.

However, after failing to return to the X Factor this Saturday, Lucy pulled out of the competition, saying it would be unfair to her fellow competitors if she took another free pass.

She said: 'I am gutted not to be able to continue on this journey but I am not well enough to perform.

'There is no way this will prevent me from fulfilling my ambition. You'll be hearing from me again very soon.'

The 21-year-old's girlfriend Harriet Lichfield has flown back from Thailand, where she has been teaching, to comfort the ailing star.

It is unlikely that Spraggan's early exit from the X Factor will harm her career too much, with sources claiming she has already received offers from 'major labels'.

She also made some £50,000 from selling her songs on iTunes until X Factor chiefs banned contestants from selling their music.
