Cheryl Cole led the way as the congratulations poured in for Kate Middleton and Prince William, who have announced they are expecting their first baby.
It was the news the nation had been waiting for: a royal baby is on its way.
And yesterday the happy news sparked a flurry of celebrities tweeting their congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Cheryl Cole paved the way, tweeting: 'I'm sooooooo excited that we're having a royal baby !!!! Congratulations to Kate and Wills !!!!!!'
And Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, who gave birth to her second baby in February, tweeted: 'So thrilled for Kate and William #feelsorrytheyhadtonouncesoearlythough!'
Opera star Katherine Jenkins also offered her love, tweeting: 'What lovely news!! Congratulations to the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge!! #PitterPatter.'
And Xtra Factor host Olly Murs was also quick to congratulate the royal couple, joking that he should have been told about it sooner: 'Cool #royalbaby that's amazing news!! Dam it how comes they never mentioned it on the XTRA Factor last week haha.'
The Saturdays star Rochelle Wiseman, who is expecting her first child with JLS heartthrob Marvin Humes, tweeted: 'Ahhhh yayyy Kate Middleton is pregnant - congrats xx.'
David Walliams, whose wife Lara Stone is also pregnant, wrote: 'Congratuwelldone William and Kate. Very happy for you both. Dx.'
Phillip Schofield was also keen to show his support to the happy couple, telling his followers that his This Morning co-host Holly Willoughby had actually predicted the news last week. He wrote: 'Well done @hollywills. She guessed a week ago! Congratulations!'
I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here star Helen Flanagan was on her way back to the UK from Australia yesterday but still managed to keep up with home affairs as she tweeted: 'Congratulations Kate and Wills.'
Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville also added: 'Great news about Her Royal Up The Duffness.'
Former Sugababes star Heidi Range wrote: 'So excited to hear the news that Kate and Wills are expecting a little royal baby. Real life fairytale ! X.'
And Family Fortunes presenter Vernon Kay was another in a long line of stars to tweet about the happy news, writing: 'Congrats Wills and Kate....Great news.The calpol is in the post.'
Bridesmaids star Christian O'Connell offered the Duke and Duchess some hand-me-downs from his family, tweeting: 'Just found a old baby chair in the garage. Are Wills and Kate on Gumtree? #royalbaby.'
And Simon Pegg also couldn't resist a little joke, writing: 'Wills and Kate have done it! At least once.'
Stars across the pond were also keen to congratulate Kate and William.
Kim Kardashian, who recently said she was keen to hang out with Kate, wrote: 'Awww, so cute!' about the news.
American Idol presenter Ryan Seacrest simply wrote: 'Will & Kate +1', and lingerie model Caprice Bourret tweeted: 'Huge congrats to Wills and Kate #babynews... So excited for them x.'
