Why did you want to become a wrestler?
When I was a kid, I was inspired by those larger-than-life characters such as Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior. I did the reality show The Real World, which made me realise I could do anything I wanted to in life. I'm from Ohio and the expectation was you go to high school, then college, then come home and get a job and a family and that's where you stay. The Real World showed me I don't have to do that small city thing – I wanted to become a WWE Superstar and I did it.
Was starting your career in reality TV a help or hindrance in becoming a wrestler?
It got me comfortable with cameras and being in front of an audience. I was already a showman, I went to a wrestling school and learned the art of wrestling and I'm here today.
If wrestling hadn't worked out, what were you going to fall back on?
I'd probably be in Cleveland, Ohio, running a business like my dad does. He runs a chain of sandwich shops. I'll probably run a couple of those too.
What's the worst job you've done?
Working for my dad. I flipped burgers for him when I was 14 at one of his stores in a terrible neighbourhood in inner-city Cleveland. I'd have grease all over me and smelled of fried food all day. I earned enough money to buy my own car, though – I was so proud. It was a 1988 Firebird that barely ran.
What's the worst injury you've sustained?
The worst injuries are to your head. I got a concussion on WrestleMania 27. I took a tackle off a table and landed on my head on the concrete. It gave me a scare. WWE has an impact assessment and you aren't allowed to work until you pass it. I had a week off, which is scary because you never know what's going to happen.
Your gimmick was to be the most annoying person possible – how did you set about doing that?
Most people backstage will say I'm the most annoying person around – I don't know why. I don't consider myself egotistical or cocky but everyone else does. I'm a good guy. They might cheer for John Cena or CM Punk but they should be cheering for me. I don't know why they don't cheer for me but if they don't like me, then tough.
What is it you do that annoys everyone?
People say I talk a lot about myself but I can't help being the most must-see WWE champion of all time. Maybe the reason I'm the way I am is because the fans don't give me the credit I deserve and I retaliate by letting them know what I've achieved.
How is The Miz persona different to your own personality?
The Miz is like if you turned my personality up to 100 and then ten more. Mike is more low-key. I just like chilling out with my dog. The Miz is the workhorse. He's the one who gets me off my butt to fly to Europe for promotion then go to Australia for our tour.
What's the worst advice you've been given?
I get bad advice all the time but I ignore it. I probably didn't help myself when I first started because I didn't want to wear trunks. I told myself I'd never be the guy wearing trunks in the ring. I didn't want to wear Speedos and be like everyone else but then I realised that, if I wanted to establish myself, I needed to be taken seriously by the audience. So I ditched the gimmicks and went to trunks.
Are the feuds for real or are you one big happy family?
It's a bit of everything. In a group of 100 people, not everyone is going to be your best friend. You have people who have tiffs with each other, then have people who are good friends. I'd say I get on best with Zack Ryder because he has such good stories. Dolph Ziggler is an incredible talent and Chris Jericho is one of the best in the ring today.
You recently did an action film – do you want to establish a career as an actor away from WWE?
I'm having fun in WWE. It's not every day you can get into a ring and have 16,000 people boo you. I'm enjoying it. If I can do movies at the same time, I will.
What are people's misconceptions of you?
That I'm awful, I suck, I should quit or get fired, that I don't belong in WWE – I get all these on Twitter all the time, along with: 'Please die, Miz.' The way I look at it is: don't be a bully, be a star. I meet people all the time who rant at me but they've made me who I am today. People always told me I wasn't good enough or athletic enough and proving them wrong is what's fuelled me to achieve what I have.
Have you ever been attacked by an animal?
My dog Flake tries to attack me all the time but he's a miniature pinscher so it doesn't work. I enjoy his courageousness.

Perrie Edwards already has one foot up the aisle with her 'really sweet' One Direction boyfriend Zayn Malik.
In a Guilty Pleasures exclusive chat with Little Mix, the 19-year-old hinted at marriage as she heaped praise on her pop lover, who recently guided her through the rumour mill when he was accused of cheating on her.
Now they have 'more understanding of each other because we both do the same thing'.
After being welcomed into the heart-throb's family home for Eid, Edwards said: 'I can't wait to get married and have kids but it's Little Mix at the minute.'
Putting her career first, she continued: 'I want Little Mix to explode and be massive, then I think we'll all settle down and get married and have kids and stuff like that. It's going to be lovely. I can't wait.'
Malik, 19, has helped her bandmates with their own showbiz and boyfriend troubles. 'He gives us all advice,' she said.
'Every time he comes over and when we're getting our hair and make-up done he'll just sit and chat with us. It's really nice having him there to talk to. If I'm ever unsure about things, or me and the girls are like, "What does this mean? We need advice", we'll always ask him.'
For Jade Thirlwall, who dates 21-year-old Diversity dancer Sam Craske, she's more cautious about boyfriends selling her out.
'You've got to be careful who you meet in this industry, you don't know who wants to be with you because they actually like you, or if it's because of who you are,' said the 19-year-old, who claimed it's easier to date a famous lover.
'You don't get to see them as much, so when you do it's more special and you just make the most of it. You're not in each other's pockets all the time and arguing. I kind of prefer it.'
Singleton Leigh-Anne, 20, is not so worried about being betrayed and is prepared to be sold out during her bedroom escapades.
She conceded: 'You're going to get that anyway in this industry. It's probably going to happen. I think if it did happen I'd just have to handle it. It's happened to some of us already.'
Little Mix on nudity...
Squeaky clean Little Mix insist they won't be getting their kit off... yet. The girls said they would earn their stripes first – like their idol Rihanna. 'We are gonna grow as women. We're still young and we're still doing all the fun stuff,' said Perrie.
'We're not going to go from one extreme to another and then just be like "Pow! Shoot me when I'm in my bra".' Jade agreed: 'I think Rihanna can wear anything because she's earned it. She's worked her way up and nobody can tell her not to wear something because she looks amazing.'
Little Mix on booze...
The girls can now be dubbed Little Mixers after they spiked teetotal Jesy Nelson's cola with booze.
They left her so wasted she had to be carried home by dancer boyfriend Jordan Banjo from Diversity.
Jesy, 21, revealed: 'The first time I was ever drunk was on The X Factor tour and it was just not funny at all.'
She said that when people found out she wasn't a drinker 'they were like "all right, let's get her drunk" and they were giving me all these drinks'.
She added: 'I thought they were just normal Coke, and slyly they kept putting things in there. I kept feeling a bit like, whooo! It was really weird. My boyfriend looked after me, bless him.'
She's since given boozing another go, snitched hard-partying bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock.
'One night, the second time you got drunk, we went home and we were literally throwing bin bags around. We just went crazy,' said Leigh-Anne, who says she's much better at holding down the shots.
Little Mix on diets...
The Little Mix girls have vowed never to 'starve' themselves to conform in the music industry.
Tucking into a takeaway as I interviewed them, Perrie explained: 'In this industry you have to be fit and healthy. You need to eat the right things for energy but then, at the same time, we're just really casual with what we eat. We're not going to be like, "Oh I'm going to starve myself today".
'We're not going to be strict on ourselves for trying to lose weight. We just eat what we want and whatever makes us happy we're gonna do.'

'The clubs were amazing. There was a drum'n'bass club and they never ID'd anyone which is why we all went. It was a complete s***hole but we all loved it. At the end of the week we'd all go down there and dance until 6am.'

Little Mix had a battle on their hands this week after Lucy Spraggan raced up the iTunes chart following her appearance on The X Factor. But who will win this week's Celebrity Face Off?

X Factor success
Lucy Spraggan wowed the judges during her first audition with her performance of self-penned track Last Night, about the so-called 'beer fear' the morning after a heavy night out. After receiving a resounding yes from all four judges Lucy's track shot up the iTunes chart, climbing to number two behind Little Mix's Wings. While the track was later pulled to ensure a 'level playing field' for all contestants, it seems a given that Lucy will go far in the competition.
Little Mix were formed during the 2011 series of The X Factor, after members Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall and Jesy Nelson failed to progress past the boot camp stage as solo artists. Few expected the girls to make a serious impression during the competition, but their lively personalities and increasingly evident vocal talents soon won them legions of their fans. Going up against Amelia Lily and Marcus Collins in the final, Little Mix went on to become the first group ever to win The X Factor.
Winner round one: Lucy Spraggan is bound to do well, but she can't compete with Little Mix's X Factor victory.
Showbiz credentials
Lucy has already ingratiated herself with the showbiz community, finding herself with scores of celebrity fans after her audition was aired. One Direction's Louis Tomlinson, actor Gary Lucy and former X Factor contestant Frankie Cocozza all took to Twitter to support the star, with Cher Lloyd saying the audition was enough to make her start watching the show again. Having confessed her love of heavy drinking on nights out it seems it won't be long before Lucy is snapped falling out of a nightclub, while her romantic life is bound to become tabloid fodder after she revealed she was looking for a new girlfriend. 'X Factor must do wonders for your love life,' she said. 'Girls do love girls with guitars.'
While on The X Factor Little Mix looked set to be rather unassuming celebrities, often proclaiming they were 'too busy for boys' while admitting they'd rather slob around in their trainers than wear a pair of skyscraper heels on a night out. But predictably that all changed once the group shot to fame and now Little Mix have fully embraced the world of showbiz, with the girls regularly seen out on the town at celeb events. Three of them have bagged celebrity boyfriends too: Perrie is now seeing One Direction's Zayn Malik, while Jesy and Jade are dating Diversity stars Jordan Banjo and Sam Craske respectively.
Winner round two: Lucy is certain to be a star of the future, but right now Little Mix rule the showbiz world.
Future prospects
After her X Factor audition Louis Walsh declared her track could go straight to number one, with fellow judge Gary Barlow swiftly agreeing. After the show hit television screens Louis' prediction very nearly came true before she was forced to withdraw the track from sale, so it seems a foregone conclusion that whatever happens on The X Factor Lucy has a hit on her hands. With her knack for witty lyrics a successful career as a singer/songwriter seems a near certainty.
Little Mix's future seems less certain – while their debut single Cannonball topped the charts upon its release in December, the track achieved the worst first week sales for an X Factor champion's winning song since Steve Brookstein in 2004. With many winners in recent years rapidly falling back into obscurity – 2010 winner Matt Cardle has already been dropped from his record label – it remains to be seen whether Little Mix have what it takes to guarantee longevity in the music industry.
Winner round three: Lucy's song writing talents give her the edge in this one.
Overall winner: Little Mix fend off new X Factor rival Lucy, winning 2-1.

Cheryl Cole has put the full blame for her car accident at the feet of close pal Will.i.am - saying he wasn't concentrating on the road as she smiled through the pain in a Twitter snap showing her arm in a sling.

Cheryl was doing a round of interviews this morning shortly after flying in from Los Angeles and 36 hours after she was involved in a car crash while being driven away from a McDonald's by Will.
And, in a radio interview, Cheryl said the Black Eyed Peas star was too busy chatting about his recent outer space experience, when his song Reach For The Stars was beamed back to Earth from Nasa's Mars rover Curiosity.
'He's a bad talker. He was talking the face off us,' she revealed to Capital FM.
'He was talking about Nasa and Mars.'
Speaking to show hosts Dave Berry and Lisa Snowdon, she added that her bandaged arm was 'absolutely fine' and that 'it actually hurts more to have it in a sling'.
It had been business as usual for Cheryl, whose followers she has nicknamed 'soldiers', and she looked in fine spirits in the picture she posted on the social networking site.
The Girls Aloud member grinned at the camera as she relaxed barefoot on a red sofa before a different interview, with the black sling clearly visible.
The singer had previously sported the sling at Capital's studios in central London, but the flight back from the US had clearly taken its toll on the Geordie lass.

The star recently gave a revealing interview to Oprah about her tumultuous relationship with singer Chris Brown, which ended after the Turn Up The Music singer beat Rihanna before she was due to perform at the Grammys in 2009.
When the TV show host asked her about the incident, the Barbados-born singer replied: 'I can't tell people how to feel about it. They're entitled to feel angry because it wasn't a good thing that happened. But I have forgiven him.'

Country singer LeAnn Rimes is suing two women who she says recorded a phone conversation with her and posted it online, a day after checking into rehab suffering from anxiety and exhaustion.

Yesterday Rimes revealed that 'anxiety and stress' was behind her admission, the day after her 30th birthday.
'This is just a time for me to emotionally check out for a second and take care of myself and come back in 30 days as the best 30-year-old woman I can be,' she said.
'All the things in my life will be there when I get out, but you know what? I'm hoping they're not going to affect me as much. I'll have the tools to know how to deal with them.'
Today it emerged that the star is seeking more than $25,000 (£16,000) in damages from Kimberly Smiley and her daughter Lexi after the pair allegedly recorded a phone conversation in March that ended up on websites attacking the country singer.
Smiley claims Rimes called her up after the pair had an argument via Twitter about the star's extra-marital affair with now-husband Eddie Cibrian.

She told Radar Online that LeAnn had told her: 'Hey b****, this is LeAnn, you have five minutes to say whatever you want to me.'
The lawsuit states: 'The making of the unauthorised recording and the posting of it and edited excerpts of it on various websites have resulted in a public and damaging depiction of Ms Rimes, have harmed her reputation and personal relationships, and have caused her emotional distress.'
Smiley denies posting the recording, saying she shared it with online acquaintances – one of whom played it for Cibrian's ex-wife.

Adele took to Twitter last night to deny getting married to her fiancé Simon Konecki, following rumours that the pair had tied the knot in a secret ceremony.

The singer was reported to have wed the father of her unborn child, after being spotted wearing a gold band on her wedding finger back in July.
However, the 24-year-old is clearly bored of these fictitious rumours, as she tweeted to her nine million plus followers: 'I'm not married…Zzzzzz.'
Adele's denial comes after a source told Mail Online that she and Simon had married in secret.
The source said: 'They did get married, and I was present. It was a fabulous occasion.
'Adele was dressed in a classic attire and Simon looked very smart and joyous.'
The Someone Like You singer has been at the centre of rumours this week in the run up to the birth of her first child with entrepreneur Simon.
Adele was not the only person to question recent reports surrounding the couple, as Ed Sheeran, who was alleged to have introduced the pair, claimed that this was also a lie.
He too took to his Twitter account yesterday, saying: 'The press still seem to think i introduced adele and her boyfriend, which is odd, coz I didn't [sic].'
