X Factor favourite James Arthur has defended his partying antics and insisted that he won't let his reputation with the ladies affect his chances on the show.
The 24-year-old hopeful was pictured snogging a mystery brunette outside Mahiki nightclub in Mayfair on Wednesday night before taking her back to his London hotel, prompting fans to question whether or not he is taking the competition seriously.
And although it's not the fist time he's been caught kissing girls, James insists his work-hard-party-hard mantra doesn't mean to say he's not worthy of a place in next week's final.
He explained: 'I've been working really hard and doing constant rehearsals and things.
The talented singer also said his late night smooch wasn't as bad as it looked.
He added: ''We went to a comedy Gala and then I went for a drink with Union J for literally an hour. I wasn't even drunk to be fair.
'It is frustrating if people do think I am constantly out partying but I try not to take any notice of it.
'As long as I perform well and put the work in that is what matters.
'We are in a bubble here and under pressure so sometimes we need a release,' he told The Mirror.
James will go head to head with Union J, Jahmene Douglas and Christopher Maloney in tonight's semi final which kicks off on ITV1 at 8pm
