Ronan Keating: New album won't be about my affair and marriage split

Ronan Keating has denied his comeback album Fires will document his affair and marriage meltdown. He said songs on the album would deal with emotions, rather than go into all the gory details of his tryst with a backing dancer.

The former Boyzone star said songs on the album would deal with emotions, rather than go into all the gory details of his tryst with a backing dancer.

'The lyrics aren't autobiographical, with everything that's gone on, but they are very emotional,' the 35-year-old Irishman told Metro.

'I haven't done a studio album in six years so it's been interesting to get back in it. I'm feeling good again.

'It's going to be very poppy and up-tempo like Life Is A Rollercoaster. There's actually a rap on it.'

Ronan revealed more details about his album on Daybreak this morning, telling Lorraine Kelly and Aled Jones: 'I've grown up over the last twelve years and realised this is what I do - its pop music so I've gone back to my roots.

'But it's not autobiographical in any way - I don't want to tell stories, I don't want to talk about it, I've hurt enough people and to be honest I just want to make a positive optimistic album and put the past behind me and move forward the best I can."

He added, "OK, so you can't help but draw from emotions and some of them I guess are reflective - but as I say, I'm not telling stories.

'But its pop music and I'm trying to be positive and optimistic and move forward because that's the way I feel. I feel great, I feel good and I'm in a great place and trying to do my best.'
