X Factor wannabe Rylan Clark has admitted he wanted Louis Walsh to be his mentor on the show, not Nicole Scherzinger.
Louis may have managed the likes of Westlife and Girls Aloud in his time but it's the quirkier acts where his real strength lies, says Rylan.
According to the bubbly 23-year-old, Louis is the best out of the bunch when it comes to harnessing talent.
He said: 'If someone had asked me to list the judges in order, I'd have put Louis first.
'He knows there's money to be made from people like me. I'm not comparing myself to Jedward – but they didn't have a great first audition and now the kids are worth millions. That's why I wanted Louis,' he told The Sun.
The Essex model also revealed this week that he's been lapping up tips from last year's double act 2 Shoes.
Rylan – who will battle it out with the rest of the boys in tonight's episode at Nicole's 'house' in Dubai – has been friends with 2 Shoes' Charley Bird since secondary school, and is even godfather to her son Beaux Bird.
Charley said: 'He really is one of the most genuine, kind-hearted people you'll ever meet. We are all really rooting for him!"
But despite his strong support base, Rylan says he has had his fair share of put downs since he found fame on the hit ITV show.
'I've had a couple of death threats on Twitter,' he added.
