Simon Cowell 'resents Will.i.am for banning Cheryl Cole's X Factor return'

Simon Cowell wanted Cheryl Cole to rejoin the X Factor judging panel this year, and blames Will.i.am for stopping her return to the show.

This is the view of Simon's biographer Tom Bower, who told Heat that the music mogul would have liked ex-judges Cheryl and Dannii Minogue back on the show, instead of N-Dubz star Tulisa Contostavlos and Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, who currently hold the coveted roles.

'He always wanted her back. That was the whole problem. will.i.am prevented her, in his view,' he told the publication.

'Simon thinks The X Factor is the natural place for her, and his ideal lineup this year probably would have been Cheryl and Dannii with Gary and Louis.'

Bower also claimed that Simon believes Dannii returning to the panel would have brought in a lot more viewers and made for a better show.

This is not the first time it has been rumoured that Simon wanted Dannii back on the TV talent show, with a source previously quoting him as telling Peter Fincham, ITV director of television to bring her back to X Factor, as 'everyone will be looking at her t***'.

Despite Simon apparently being pleased with Gary Barlow's judging efforts, a new chapter in Bower's The Intimate Life of Simon Cowell revealed that the talent show titan was gutted that the Take That singer was given an OBE.
