Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are set for an awkward reunion, with the pair set to present gongs at the MTV Video Awards in three weeks' time.
The pair are thought to have split after news of Kristen's affair with director Rupert Sanders emerged last month, with removal vans subsequently spotted leaving the couple's LA home.
However the estranged couple are committed to promoting the final Twilight film Breaking Dawn Part 2 together, with the studio recently confirming that there are no plans to change the promotional schedule in light of the scandal.
Kristen and Robert are both set to present awards at the MTV Video Awards in three weeks, but now organisers face a huge headache.
The pair were originally set to present an award together, but that now seems unlikely given the couple's relationship issues.
An MTV source told the Daily Mirror: 'This event could be a real embarrassment. The idea was for them to jointly present awards but that is looking unlikely now.
'If Kristen goes up alone the crowd reaction will be astonishing. Fans have bought into the romance on and off screen so she could be in for a horrible night.'
Kristen has not made any public appearance since the news of her infidelity broke, but Robert Pattinson has been forced back into the limelight in order to promote his new film Cosmopolis.
His first interview was with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show, where the pair joked about his relationship troubles while eating ice cream.
Later he dodged questions about the state of his relationship during an interview with Showbiz Tonight, saying: 'Since the first Twilight you enter this realm where things are reported about you. It's weird.'
Cosmopolis director David Cronenberg, who was also part of the interview, tried to deflect the questions and pointed out: 'It's a very abstract realm that doesn't really have a lot to do with personal reality.'
He later added: 'People think they know what's going on but they don't really.'
While R-Patz has resisted discussing Kristen or their relationship, he assured fans that he is coping fine.
When asked if he was ok, he replied simply: 'Yeah.'
He has so far put on a brave face during a string of public appearance, including opening the New York Stock Exchange with Cronenberg as well as the Cosmopolis premiere at The Museum of Modern Art in New York.
