The prime minister and his wife do the Mexican wave: Caption competition
Aug 10th 2012, 17:11

The prime minister David Cameron and his wife Samantha decided to get into the Olympic spirit by taking part in a Mexican wave during the women's beach volleyball. But what caption would you give this photo?

Why were David Cameron and his wife Samantha really waving their arms? (Picture: Getty)

Cameron has been attending many events at this summer's Games and was even accused of being bad luck for Team GB at the start when they were not winning many medals.

That, of course, now seems ridiculous, with Britain currently holding 25 golds and sitting comfortably in third in the medal table.

The prime minister is now basking in the reflected glory of London 2012 and Britain's success.

And it looks like he's doing his best to make sure everyone knows it.

The Conservative leader attended the women's beach volleyball semi-final match between United States and China this week and needed no second invitation to get in on the world-famous Mexican wave.

But was he really waving his arms above his head as part of this mass celebration or was it something totally different?

Could someone have been pointing a weapon at him and telling him to stick his hands up?

Or could he have been leading a game of follow the leader?

What do you think? What caption should this picture have on it? Leave a comment below with your best ideas.

Get the most votes and you could be caption king or queen this week - just like AmyCook who came up with the winning caption 'Philip darling, pass one's ladders...' for this photo of the Queen meeting a tall Team GB member at the Olympic Park.
