Rihanna has admitted she has 'good memories' of her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown and still misses him at times.
The Umbrella singer and the R&B star split in 2009, after he attacked her before the Grammy Awards ceremony.
He later admitted an assault charge and was given five years of probation, but despite that, some fondness remains.
In an interview with Oprah Winfrey scheduled to be broadcast on Sunday, Rihanna conceded she often thinks of the good times she had with Brown.
'I am reminded by a lot of things. A lot of good memories we had,' the Bajan superstar said.
'By the slightest things; hotel rooms, tour venues, any little thing, music, songs, and I do miss him at times.'
In another section of the interview, Rihanna said she had 'lost her best friend' when she broke up with Brown and that she felt 'protective' of him as he endured fierce criticism in the wake of the assault.
'As angry as I was – as angry and hurt and betrayed - I just felt like he made that mistake because he needed help,' she said.
While rumours that Rihanna and Brown may get back together still seem far-fetched, there have been other signs she has forgiven him - notably when they worked together on a remix of her track Birthday Cake.
