Amy Winehouse's father Mitch has admitted he is finally able to sleep at night following the death of his daughter last year.
Mitch Winehouse said he no longer had to worry every night what she was up to or if she was safe.
'In a way, subconsciously, it's a relief that I don't have to keep checking up on Amy,' the 60-year-old told Grazia magazine.
'There was a time in the midst of her drug addiction when she could have died on several occasions and I was always worried about her.
'So, in a way, it's a little bit of guilt – on my behalf – because I am able to sleep at night now.'
He also admitted he still sent Winehouse – who died aged 27 last July following a drinking binge – text messages telling her to come home.
'But she's never coming home and I'm going to have to deal with that for the rest of my life', he said.
Mitch has written a memoir, Amy: My Daughter, chronicling his relationship with his troubled daughter.
All proceeds from the book, released next week, will go to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which was set up in her memory following her death in July last year.
