Shy X Factor hopeful Curtis Golden has admitted he is still struggling to come to terms with Mel B's hurtful comments.
The 18-year-old wannabe revealed today he cannot understand why his Spice Girl idol labelled him 'irritating' following his impressive audition.
'They'd been saying all day that Mel B wasn't the nicest person there, but I was kind of telling myself "Oh no, she'll be fine, she'll be lovely".
'I was a bit disappointed. I didn't completely understand it.'
But despite Mel's harsh words, Curtis is happy with his rendition of Candy Man.
'It was quite overwhelming, but it was really good overall.'
Meanwhile, the quirky art student has revealed he plucked up the courage to audition for the ITV juggernaut after miraculously surviving a serious car crash.
Curtis had been too shy to try his hand at The X factor in previous years, but after a stint in hospital with concussion following the crash, he decided enough was enough.
Curtis, of Buxton, Derbyshire said: 'You kind of stop giving a c**p.'
He went on to explain that his 'life's too short' mantra also gave him the courage to tell his dad he was gay.
He said: 'You imagine it to be huge. I wanted an argument or something but my dad was like, "OK".'
Curtis' mum died of cancer when he was just ten years old.
