Kristen Stewart has pulled out of the MTV Video Music Awards, at which she was due to appear alongside her ex-boyfriend Robert Pattinson.
The Twilight co-stars had agreed to appear at the ceremony in LA next month before it emerged K-Stew had indulged in an affair with married Snow White And The Huntsman director Rupert Sanders.
But the 22-year-old actress has decided she may be a little more well received at the Toronto International Film Festival, where she will be heading to promote her new film On The Road instead.
An awards insider told the Daily Mirror: 'Bosses were hoping that Kristen and Robert would be surprise guests before this scandal blew up.
'The idea was for them to jointly present awards… but that has been changed.'
It had previously been feared that K-Stew would be in for a bad reaction if she went ahead with the gig.
A source told the Daily Mirror earlier week: 'If Kristen goes up alone the crowd reaction will be astonishing. Fans have bought into the romance on and off screen so she could be in for a horrible night.'
Insiders say British heartthrob Rob will now attend the VMAs alone.
Nevertheless, Twilight bosses are still insisting that the pair reunite for promotional work ahead of Twilight: Breaking Dawn: Part 2's release in November.
Actress Marisa Quinn, who plays Huilen in the franchise's final installment, is confident the duo will be able to put their relationship woes behind them for the sake of the blockbuster.
She said: 'It's several months away... they are such professionals and amazing human beings.'
Kristen is yet to make a public appearance since the news of her infidelity with the 41-year-old father of two broke.
Rob on the other hand has been forced to suffer a number of awkward interviews as he promotes his new film Cosmopolis.
