Chris Moyles announced his departure from Radio 1 this week as Nick Grimshaw was named his successor in the popular breakfast show slot. But which DJ will win our Celebrity Face Off?
Grimshaw, with his bevvy of showbiz mates and interesting, 'youthful' hairstyle, is bound to bring in the younger crowd - which Radio 1 has been trying to achieve for some years now. Joining daytime radio alongside the likes of Fearne Cotton and Greg James, Grimshaw - or Grimmers as he is affectionately known by his fans - seems to be the perfect candidate to draw in young listeners.
Winner Round One: While Chris has been a great anchor for Radio 1, it's time for some fresh talent. Grimshaw has proved he's more than up to the challenge with his radio work to date so he wins.
Off the air
When Chris isn't blessing the nation with his dulcet tones over the airwaves, he, alongside X Factor runner up Stacy Solomon, hosts The Love Machine - a dating show on Sky1 not dissimilar to Take Me Out. Moyles also helms a quiz gameshow on Channel 4 - aptly titled Chris Moyles' Quiz Night. The DJ even tried his luck on the cringeworthy Celebrity X Factor some years back, impressing judges Simon Cowell, Sharon Osborne and Louis Walsh with his rendition of Burning Love and Beautiful Day.
Nick, when he's not hosting his own late-night show on Radio 1, can be seen with a Cheshire Cat grin alongside the other hip young things of popular Channel 4 programme T4. Other than that, Nick is most likely to be hanging out with any of his showbiz pals, including Lily Allen, model Agnes Deyn and One Direction's Harry Styles.
Winner Round Two: When he's not on-air Chris has got his hands full with other TV duties. His stint on Celebrity X Factor wasn't bad either, so he wins.
Twitter reaction
When news of Chris' departure was announced, Twitter was divided equally between those who would be sad to see Moyles leave, and those who weren't that bothered (oh, and a select few who couldn't wait to see the back of him).
'Chris Moyles = Funny. Nick Grimshaw = Less funny than having hemorrhoids and diarrhea at the same time' one Moyles supporter wrote, 'Radio 1 is officially dead'.
Meanwhile, an indifferent tweeter wrote: 'When life gets you down be grateful you're not one of those people who're upset that Chris Moyles has lost his job. You know, a moron'.
The announcement of Nick as replacement wasn't too well received on Twitter either, with user @Lydiaoc26 said: 'I am mucho disappointed with the Chris Moyles Nick Grimshaw thing. I think Scott Mills would be a better fit for the morning show!'
Another tweeted: 'Nick Grimshaw replacing Chris Moyles at Radio 1 proves that every time you think something can't get any worse, it does.'
However, Grimmers also had some famous cheerleaders. Singer Conor Maynard wrote: 'Yes @grimmers !! Congratulations man, This is huuuuuge!!!! You deserve it! x'. Florence Welch joined the fray too, writing: 'CONGRATULATING YOU! Are you kinda bummed you have to get up so early now though...'
Winner Round Three: The celeb supporters steal Nick the win this round
Overall winner: Grimmers beats Moyles 2 rounds to 1. Hard luck, Chris!
