Cheryl Cole has been the subject of rumours that she could have the opportunity to host her own chat show, with some saying that she might become the UK's answer to Oprah Winfrey.

A member of her team told the Daily Star that Sky1 are 'desperate' to get the Girls Aloud to sign a contract for a show beginning next year.

'They've been in talks for a while and believe they will have wrapped up the deal within the next month. They think she could be the UK's Oprah because of her reputation as the nation's sweet-heart and are willing to pay big bucks to get her on board,' the source reported.

However, a representative from Sky told Vogue.com that, although they believe her to be a 'great talent', they do not have any plans in place at the moment.

The Call My Name singer has not had the best of luck with her TV deals. Last year, she was axed from the US version of the X Factor amid claims that she lacked chemistry with fellow judge Paula Abdul and that viewers found it difficult to understand her accent.

She was replaced by former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger.

The Girls Aloud singer recently told Glamour Magazine that she would never discuss her private life in the press again, following her high profile split from footballer Ashley Cole.
