The 32-year-old heavyweight has won over a new range of fans after his appearance on the ITV reality show, with Haye currently favourite to be named king of the jungle on Saturday.

It seems he wants to capitalise on his expanded fan base with a permanent move from sport to entertainment.

Musing on life after boxing, he told camp mates Charlie Brooks and Ashley Roberts: 'In five years' time obviously boxing will be gone.  I've got one maximum two more fights that I want, other than that I'm not interested in doing any more.

'In five years' time I'd like to be a well-established actor.  That's my ultimate goal.'

Stressing that he wants to be taken seriously, he added: 'People will not see me a boxer but as an actor, an actor who used to do boxing.  So watch this space.'

Haye made the revelation during a chat about the highs and lows of fame, in which he admitted he loves the perks of being famous.

He explained: 'When I didn't have any money I always wanted stuff, clothes.  Now that I've become well known and famous, the brands that I aspired to have, want me to wear their things, jeans companies, trainers.

'Whatever I wanted, they were like "OK, could you wear this?" I'd go into a shop and they'd say "OK what do you want? Take what you want, just take a picture of you wearing it."

'They'd give me as much stuff as I want.  They were talking about cars, it was anything.'

David had earlier found himself having his hand gnawed by a bandicoot while taking part in the final bushtucker trial, 'well of hell'.

The task Haye saw lowered down a well inside a bucket, with the aim to reach into holes in the wall containing stars.

After successfully negotiating yabbies and a crocodile Haye came unstuck after encountering a bandicoot, which clamped on to his hand.

'It's really going to work on my hand what the hell is that, I've got bite marks, thanks for that,' he said.

Despite the drama David managed to get all six half stars, earning three meals for camp.
