Justin Bieber received an unexpected welcome when he was booed on his home turf during his half-time gig at the Canadian Football League final in Toronto.
The Canadian pop star caused quite a stir when his face popped up on screen ahead of his performance at the CFL Grey Cup championship football game between the Toronto Argonauts and the Calgary Stampeders on Sunday.
The football fans' jeering continued as the teen took to belt out a Boyfriend/Beauty And A Beat medley.
But it would seem Biebs eventually won the crowd over and the gig ultimately proved to be a success.
After the show, he tweeted: 'Honored to perform for my country. #ProudCanadian . Good luck in the second half. thanks,' before adding 'Never walk away from a challenge'.
He also retweeted a message sent by a fan that read: 'You best believe Justin proved the crowd wrong, he did incredible. And the booing turned into cheering. That's how he do it.'
And despite his on-stage setback, the 18-year-old hinted things were back on with Selena Gomez, 20, telling Oprah Winfrey: 'She just has a good heart. I can talk to her about anything'.
