EXCLUSIVE: Xtra Factor babe Caroline Flack says her fans have finally made her feel like a 'style icon' after her dress sense was ripped to shreds in the 'most hurtful' article she'd ever read.
The 33-year-old presenter admits she now makes a real effort after the summer drubbing in a One Direction fan magazine and says her supporters have given her leggy style the thumbs up.
'I never used to be fashion conscious,' the star told Metro. 'I used to be rock out the house in whatever I found in my hallway.
'Now I've become a bit more aware that people are like "Hold on, you're wearing that again".'
Refusing to let the attack dent her pride Caroline says the feedback from fans has been tops.
'It's so nice when you get young girls sending you messages saying "You're my style icon" or "I feel like you today and I'm dressed like this". I find really sweet, really sweet,' she said.
'I just dress for me really. I don't try and follow any trends.'
Flack feels she has finally got a handle on her haters, particularly on Twitter.
'I don't take it seriously at all,' she said. 'Unfortunately some people use it to be nasty and when people do that, you just have to imagine what they're doing at that moment.'
Meanwhile, Flack is set to experience the nerves when she goes carol singing for charity.
'At the minute I'm working on this new Text Santa appeal – I'm practising my singing,' she said. 'I'm all right. My mum says I can hold a tune.'
JustTextGiving by Vodafone is the official text donation partner of Text Santa. The free service is quick and easy to use with 100 per cent of the money going direct to charity.
