Fans of the show took to Twitter to express their disbelief at Helen opting out of the bushtucker trial after mere seconds on the latest instalment of the show.

Flanagan was tasked with attempting to win food for her camp by spending ten minutes in a locked crate with a swarm of insects before being thrown a key and escaping to bag the win.

Only the Corrie actress couldn't even manage ten seconds in the crate and screamed to get out as soon as the first lot of bugs joined her.

Thoroughly unimpressed viewers slammed the actress in their droves when the moment aired.

'Helen Flannagan makes Gillian McKeith and Natalie Appleton look like superwomen #imacelebrity' said Denise Archer, while natfarsiani wrote: 'Why sign up for #imacelebrity if you don't like bugs or heights, strange strange people'.

Emma tweeted: 'I don't really mind if Helen Flanagan turns into the next Gillian McKeith, seeing someone faint on live TV again would make my year'.

Other comments included: 'Bet she'll be one of the first to voluntarily walk out of the jungle.', as a another Twitter user ranted 'Helen Flanagan needs to woman up!'

However Flanagan fan Ella was more sympathetic, saying: 'Watching I'm a celeb and Helen[sic] Flanagan is actually so funny. Bless her! X'
