Justin Bieber has broken his silence over his break-up with Selena Gomez – but smitten Beliebers hoping to hear he's officially single again will have to wait.
The Baby singer admitted: 'I don't know what's going on in my life,' as he responded for the first time to claims that the pair's romance is over.
'I don't know what to say,' he told radio host John Garabedian. 'For people to even assess it doesn't make sense, because I have not made any comment.'
Justin gave his relationship update after Hungarian model Barbara Palvin, 19, was forced to explain 'nothing was going on' with her and the singer, despite a recent theatre date.
But sources close to the 18-year-old insist he hasn't done the dirty on actress Selena, 20, and 'is not involved with anyone else'.
He will fight to try to win back the Disney starlet, an insider told website TMZ.
'Justin would like to get back with Selena, and thinks it can happen,' he said.
'We're told, the way Justin sees it, they've broken up a bunch of times before and this is just another blip.'
Other friends expect a reunion, too, and say the couple plan to meet in New York.
'They're both being a bit cagey and stubborn but they're desperate to see one another,' a source said. 'We all expect them to work it out.'
It's been a rough old 12 months in the romance stakes for the doe-eyed Canadian, after 20-year-old mum Mariah Yeater falsely claimed Bieber was her baby's father.
Justin let the music do the talking when he covered Justin Timberlake's Cry Me A River on Saturday in Boston.
