The Wanted have defended their controversial decision to join Chris Brown in the studio but admit they are 'nervous' about a possible backlash.

'Chris Brown really wants to get in the studio with us and we're going to go out there before Christmas and we're going to sing and write,' singer Jay McGuiness told Metro.

The star says his group are all too well aware he will always be associated with beating up his on-off lover Rihanna.

'I think it's been really hard for him to shake it,' said McGuiness.

'I mean we'll possibly (get a backlash from fans). He still gets a lot of flak for everything that's gone on.'

'We are nervous but if the song's a good song it's our song as much as it is his as well but yeah it's something we're definitely thinking about.'

The collaboration bombshell was revealed as Rihanna showed her forgiveness yet again by dueting with her 23-year-old ex on her new album on a track called 'Nobodies Business'.

But as The Wanted appear to look past Brown's violent past, Irish band The Original Rude Boys took a stance against the Beautiful People singer last week when they rejected his offer to support him on tour in Dublin.

The group said 'we are completely against Chris Brown's assault on Rihanna... In addition, with our latest single 'Blue Eyes' being about domestic violence, it goes against everything we are about as a band and supporting Chris Brown would send out the wrong message to our fans.'
