X Factor judges Mel B and Nicole Scherzinger have been thrust in to the media spotlight as the new series of the talent show juggernaut kicks off, but which one these no nonsense oracles will win this week's Celebrity Face Off?
Career
Melanie Brown shot to stardom with the Spice Girls in the 90s and at 38 years old the mum-of-three from Leeds is still going strong.
After the girl group officially split in 2000 Mel went on to rack up a number of hits on her own, even teaming up with the likes of Missy Elliot on I Want You Back.
Scary Spice has her own reality show It's A Scary World and is a permanent judge on the Australian version of The X Factor.
Earlier this year she was announced as the new co-host of Dancing With The Stars Down Under and in March it was announced she had signed a new record deal with EMI.
Nicole Scherzinger, 34, made it big as the lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls.
When the girl group split Nicole also went on to have a successful solo career and has been kicking around in X Factor circles for years.
She was a guest judge on the ITV show in 2010 before moving on to bigger and better things on The X Factor USA in 2011.
She's now back on the UK version of the show as a permanent fixture and recently teamed up with Will.i.am on her upcoming second studio album.
Winner: Unlike Nicole, Mel B struggled to make it as a solo artist. Nevertheless, she's got a comeback in the pipeline so watch this space. Nicole wins, for now.
Mel B was dubbed Scary Spice back in the day and boy did she prove she's still worthy of her title on The X Factor's opening show last weekend. She's honest, abrupt and perhaps a little bit insensitive - but it all makes for great TV.
Nicole is soft in demeanour and seems to be a much gentler judge.
Nevertheless, she was dumped from The X Factor USA and has already admitted that getting too attached to her US batch of wannabes was to her detriment.
In the show's promo last week Nicole revealed that she may look nice on the outside but she's a 'mean bitch' on the inside.
Winner: Mel may be the more entertaining to watch but at the end of the day, Nicole and Mel B have both been guest judges on The X Factor and Simon Cowell went for Scherzy. Nicole wins this round.
In terms of extra curricular activities, Nicole's main triumph comes in nabbing none other than Formula One champ Lewis Hamilton. They've been on, off and on and off again. Nevertheless she's constantly in the press and we love that she's somehow managed to tame him.
Until recently Mel B had drifted off the UK scene, pursuing her career in the US and most recently Down Under.
However, the Spice Girls legacy is back with a bang after the girls all proved they've still got it when they reunited for the Olympics closing ceremony with a Wannabe/Spice Up Your Life Medley.
Mel B has been at the forefront of bringing the Spice Girls back together and for that we owe her. Eternally.
Winner: For reminding us what Girl Power is, Mel B wins.
Overall winner
She may have bagged The X Factor role this year but Mel B's allegedly already been lined up to replace Nicole in next year's series.
And anyway, the Spice Girls will always reign over the Pussycat Dolls. Mel B has to win.
