David Beckham, One Direction's Louis Tomlinson and Cheryl Cole could hardly contain their excitement as Olympic diver Tom Daley secured an emotional bronze medal on Saturday night.

Beckham returned to the Olympic Park last night with his three sons Brooklyn, 13, Romeo, 9, and 7-year-old Cruz in tow.

The boys descended on Stratford to see Team GB's poster boy take to the 10m diving board at the Aquatics Centre for the final time.

Spirits were certainly running high with the footballer seen kissing, hugging and high-fiving his sons as they nervously watched 18-year-old Daley work his way into the top three despite his disappointing performance in the quarter-finals.

Becks has been spotted at a number of events in recent weeks and was sure he made time for the men's 5,000m final yesterday, in which Great Britain's Mo Farah scooped his second gold of London 2012.

The LA Galaxy footballer, who was controversially dropped from Team GB ahead of the London Games, jumped up and down and waved his hands in the air as the track legend crossed the finish line in spectacular form.

Stood in front of Beckham was London mayor Boris Johnson who looked equally thrilled with Farah's show-stopping performance.

But elsewhere in the Aquatic Centre One Direction heartthrob Louis Tomlinson cheered on Tom with his girlfriend Eleanor Calder.

The young loved-up couple took pictures of themselves and kissed and cuddled as they sat among a sea of Union Jacks.

Louis' fellow bandmates did not appear to see any of the action first hand, but will certainly get their Olympic fill when they are rumored to be performing at the Olympic Stadium tonight as part of the hotly-anticipated closing ceremony.

The Beckhams and Tomlinson were not the only celebs keen to muscle in on the action.

Cheryl Cole made sure she was the first to secure some alone time with talented teenager Daley.

She wrote soon after his win: 'Congratulations @TomDaley1994.. You did us all proud.. !! Now you should have some free time to teach me that dive !! :D.'

Earlier in the day Tom had retweeted a message from the Under The Sun singer reading: 'Good luck @tomdaley1994 you've got this !! #teamGB'

It's not the first time Ms Cole has tried her luck with the diving champ. After his initial Olympic performance, Cheryl tweeted him, saying: 'I think you are amazing! Will you teach me how to swan dive?'

Tom quickly replied: 'Of course!!! But first you need to follow me ;)'

Daley and his diving partner Pete Waterfield, 31, finished fourth in the men's synchronised 10m platform diving competition earlier in the Games.
