Rihanna has finally opened up about the heartbreak she suffered in the wake of her high-profile split from Chris Brown.
'It was embarrassing. It was humiliating. I lost my best friend,' RiRi told US chat show host Oprah Winfrey.
Discussing the aftermath, she went on: 'I was resentful. I held a grudge. I was dark.'
The We Found Love singer chatted to Oprah for the TV interviewer's Next Chapter show in Rihanna's native Barbados.
And in a teaser trailer the talk show legend revealed the Bajan beauty surprised her with her 'emotional' and 'vulnerable' side.
'I thought she was gonna be kind of a badass, a kind of hard edged, rocker, pop woman,' said Winfrey, 58.
'Nothing could have been further from the truth.'
The one-to-one also sees Rihanna talk about her celebrity lifestyle, saying she is 'super duper afraid of the pedestal that comes with fame'.
'It's amazing how lonely you can feel,' she added.
Oprah's Next Chapter will air in the US on August 19.
RiRi split from Don't Wake Me Up star Brown in 2009 after he infamously assaulted her just before the Grammy Awards.
