One Direction's Zayn Malik and Max George from The Wanted traded insults on Twitter as the battle of the British boybands rumbles on.

The boys' online brawl came after Zayn called Max a 'geek' when the Under The Sun singer posted a photo of himself posing alongside Usher swearing at the camera.
Max sarcastically replied: 'Does that mean I'm "in"?'

Casting the lighthearted banter aside, Zayn responded: 'I'm not sure why your still talking to me mate conversation ended when I called you a geek. p.s your display just how's how much of a wannabe you are :)'
'That's not very nice. I was just starting to like you and your RnB hits,' Max quipped back.
Next up, Max's bandmate Tom Parker waded in and poked fun at the blonde streak in Zayn's lone curl, adding: 'I think "1 stripes" got his knickers in a twist bro.'

Getting nasty, the 1D star blasted back: 'Mate if I had a face like yours my hair would be the last thing I'd worry about :).'
By which point Zayn's 1D chum Louis Tomlinson chipped in, telling his boyband nemesis to 'pipe down bad boy'.

Tom then posted a cutesy picture of Zayn with the message 'Bradford bad boi'.
Zayn hit back saying: 'Would love to chat gotta run though rehearsals.'

Max replied: 'Enjoy rehearsals. Stay off the bud... It clearly makes u cranky.'
To which Zayn snapped: 'Alright chlamydia boy ;).'
Clearly at the end of his tether, Max then jibed: 'Tell me you're problems without the 8 security in NYC.. The only problem I have with you is the s*** banter. Grow up son.'
Max then signed off saying he had 'really enjoyed' their war of words.
