Michael added that he remembers little of his pneumonia bout which left him fighting for his life last year.
The 48-year-old said he woke up after three weeks feeling like a 'feeble old man' as his muscles had wasted away during his recovery from the illness.
Michael, who was treated in Vienna, had to axe a number of shows as medics brought him back from the brink.
He was 'very close' to death on several occasions, he told Chris Evans during his Radio 2 breakfast show.
The singer's next single White Light will tell of his 'near death' experience, and the video sees Michael being 'saved' by model Kate Moss.
The Faith singer has revealed that the track is a 'thank you' to his fans.
He said: 'I am truly blessed, and White Light is my thank you to everybody who has been a part of my success. And I mean everybody, including the press!! Long may it continue.'
The lyrics to the song express George's gratitude for being alive.
He sings: 'And I've got so much more that I want to do/With the music/Was it music that saved me?/Or the way that you prayed for me?/Guess either way I thank you I'm alive.'
Describing Moss' appearance in the video, he called her 'my saviour, on film at least!'.
