Katie Holmes and daughter Suri have been spotted moving bags from their family home in New York City following the news of the actress's divorce from Tom Cruise.
Holmes filed for divorce from Tom Cruise last week and this latest sighting of her has sparked speculation they are planning on moving into a new pad.
Katie's clean break from the NYC apartment the family had shared comes as it emerges she has sacked the publicist she shared with Tom and gone back to the firm she had before their marriage in 2006.
According to People.com, the 33-year-old Dawson's Creek star was seen moving personal belongings into a new pad yesterday.
It is thought after filing for divorce in New York City at the end of last week, Katie is opting to make New York her home.
But Tom has now filed for divorce himself in California meaning the stage has been set for a bitter custody battle.
While Katie will be hoping divorce proceedings will be held in New York where she has a better chance of gaining full custody of the couple's six-year-old daughter, Tom is wanting them to be held in California where sole custody is not an option.
Today The Church of Scientology moved to deny they had been following Katie in vehicles in the days following the announcement of their divorce.
Photographers have reportedly seen a white Cadillac Escalade and black Mercedes SUV in the area of Katie's NYC flat.
Some sources have suggested Katie raised concerns she was being followed by Scientologists.
But Gary Soter, lawyer for the Church, told TMZ.com: 'The Church of Scientology is not following Katie or conducting surveillance on her in the wake of her divorce with Tom Cruise.'
Though neither party has given a reason for the breakdown of their five year marriage, one rumour that has surfaced is that Katie didn't want Suri, six, to be raised as a Scientologist.
Katie's lawyer confirmed news of the couple's split on Friday, telling People magazine: 'This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family. 'Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest.'
A representative for Tom hinted that the decision to divorce wasn't a mutual one, saying: 'Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy.'
Katie and Tom started dating in early 2005, becoming engaged in June that year. In 2006 the actress fell pregnant with Suri and they were married six months later in a lavish ceremony in Italy.
Meanwhile, it has also emerged that Katie has sacked her publicist Ina Treciokas in favour of her pre-marriage publicist.
A statement released by her new firm read: 'Actress Katie Holmes has left her publicist at Slate PR and has signed with BWR Public Relations.
'Following the announcement of her divorce from Tom Cruise, she is now represented by Leslie Sloane in the New York office and Nanci Ryder in Los Angeles. Katie is set to star alongside Chace Crawford in the upcoming film Responsible Adults which starts filming later this year.'
Tom's adopted son Connor appears to have broken his silence on the split, retweeting the following message last night: '#LaFamilia Always. Friends Come And Go, But Family Is Forever.'
