Sage Stallone may have overdosed on painkillers after undergoing dental surgery, his mother Sasha Czack has speculated.
Sylvester Stallone's first wife said her son had five teeth extracted in one day, just two weeks before he was found dead at his home in Hollywood last Friday.
Czack claims she had warned her son about having such extensive dental surgery in such a short period of time.
Speaking out for the first time since his death, she told the New York Post: 'I told him not to do that. I've heard about people dying having multiple procedures done to you mouth. Do not have more than one tooth (pulled).'
When asked whether Sage would have been taking medication for the pain, she added: 'Wouldn't you be.'
Sylvester has also spoken out about the family's 'agonising loss'.
He said in a statement: 'When a parent loses a child there is no greater pain... This agonising loss will be felt for the rest of our lives.
'Sage was our first child and the centre of our universe and I am humbly begging for all to have my son's memory in full left in peace.'
A Los Angeles coroner has confirmed pill bottles were recovered from the 36-year-old's house but denied reports that the film-maker was living in squalor when his body was found.
'Sage Stallone wasn't living in squalor. His home wasn't unordinarily messy. It seemed to be a typical male messiness. Mr. Stallone did have a housekeeper,' the coroner told Radar Online.
Meanwhile, Sage's lawyer has said he was content with his life and even planning on getting married.
Toxicology results are expected within the next six weeks.
