She cowered behind The Hunger Games star yesterday to avoid photographers in Philadelphia where he is shooting his new movie, Paranoia.
Miley wore a tight black dress with understated trainers and a green checked shirt, perhaps in a bid to blend in with the crowd after the controversy her new hairstyle caused.
Rapper, Tyler the Creator, called the 19-year-old's hairdresser Chris McMillan an 'a**hole' on Twitter, before quickly deleting the offensive comment.
He was not the only person to have a dig at the former Disney princess' new do, but Miley did not take the criticism lying down.
She fired back: 'My dad Billy Ray Cyrus used to tell me, "Opinions are like a**holes - everybody has one." LOVE my hair. Feel so happy, pretty, and free.'
Miley's hair has gone through a number of changes in recent weeks, with The Climb singer seemingly unable to settle on a style she liked.
Her new hair seems to be here to stay however, as she described her trip to the salon as the most successful of her career.
'Never felt more me in my whole life,' she added.
