Rylan was put through to the third round by the public, leading to a very tearful celebration for the singer.

Weeping uncontrollably, Clark clung to mentor Nicole Scherzinger and almost toppled her over as he hugged her when Dermot announced his name.

The show had yet more tears and drama as Gary Barlow said goodbye to another of his acts.

Melanie ended up in the bottom two with boy band Disrict 3, and sang INXS's Never Tear Us Apart in the sing-off.

Meanwhile the trio opted for Bryan Adams's Everything I Do to keep themselves in the competition.

With Gary and Nicole choosing to save Mel and Tulisa and Louis rooting for District 3, the vote went to deadlock with the public giving the band the most votes.

On her exit, Melanie said: 'It's been a joy. Every single minute I've been here. It was a joy working with Gary Barlow.'

Barlow joined her on stage saying that he was 'disappointed' Masson was leaving, praising her as the best singer in the competition.
