Louis Smith found himself in hot water with BBC bosses after letting slip about Sid Owen's exit from Strictly Come Dancing before the results show had aired on television.
The Olympic gymnast made the gaffe the night before the results show was due to air on BBC1 on Sunday and has received a stern telling off from show bosses.
Sunday's show is filmed immediately after the Saturday live show but viewers don't know what the result is until the following evening.
But unfortunately, Louis got a little carried away and took straight to his Twitter account to give an emotional send-off to EastEnders' star Sid.
'Wat an amazing but emotional roller coaster,' he tweeted, before adding: 'So much luv for @FlaviaCacace & it's so sad to say bye to @sidowen5 & @The_OlaJordan #crewlove.'
Luckily, BBC staff spotted the mistake and quickly phoned Louis to get the tell-tale tweet deleted.
BBC bigwigs have commented on the matter, supporting Louis but admitting he has been given a warning.
A BBC source told The Sun: 'Saturday night can be quite overwhelming and emotional for the celebrities, especially when someone leaves the contest.
'Louis was so caught up in the show that he totally forgot that TV audiences — along with fans who follow him on Twitter — hadn't seen the result.
'Luckily the tweet was noticed quickly and taken down, and the importance of keeping the show result secret has been impressed upon Louis.
'He is embarrassed about it, but at the end of the day it was an honest mistake.'
Louis, 23, is dancing with Flavia Cacace on the show.
