Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts have taken to Twitter to plug the Girls Aloud reunion tour after tickets sales struggled to take off.

Tickets for Ten - The Hits Tour were expected to sell out in minutes when they went up for general release this morning at 9am - but plenty were still up for grabs two hours later.

The girls will be a little disappointed, considering their comeback gigs were said to be more in demand than Cheryl Cole's hotly-anticipated A Million Lights tour which wrapped up last week.

Drumming up hype online, Nicola tweeted this morning: 'So exciting seeing all your tweets about tour tickets #GirlsAloudTen'

Kimberley then retweeted the message, and added: 'Hope you all get the tickets you want! Too exciting!'

Sales were expected to soar right from the off, a spokesman for ticket selling website viagogo revealed yesterday.

'Girls Aloud are no longer just the sound of the underground but the sound of a generation of pop lovers,' said Edward Parkinson.

'The last time they toured we saw unrivalled ticket demand for a girl band, and this week we have already seen more that more than double as anticipation builds.'

Their 2013 tour will kick off in Newcastle's Metro Radio Arena on February 21 and wrap up at Liverpool's Echo Arena on March 20.
