Leona Lewis has revealed that her new record helped heal a broken heart.

The warbler is in uncharted  territory after finding herself back on the market for the first time in years.

She recently split from German dancer Dennis Jauch after a two-year relationship. That romance followed a break-up from her childhood sweetheart Lou al-Chamaa.

'Break-ups are always hard but I  am lucky that I have an outlet in my music,' the Trouble singer told me.

'I get to let things out in my songs and that can help to heal and move on.
'The emotion you carry is the perfect source for real, strong, raw lyrics and  I think everyone can relate to songs like that.

'We have all been through it. Break-ups are never fun.'

Despite her new single status, the 27-year-old hasn't got weddings and  babies on her mind.

'Marriage and babies is not something I think about. Sure, one day down the line,' she admits.

After recent links to One Direction's Liam Payne, Lewis plans to keep her next lover under wraps. 'I try to keep my personal life away from everyone,' she said, adding that the rumours surrounding Payne haven't been too painful as she tries to promote her latest  album, Glassheart.

Resigned to the goss, she said: 'It's fine – you just have to ignore what  is said.'

Still in the game after scooping The X Factor crown six years ago, Lewis won't be shouldered out the limelight by glory hunters such as Lady Gaga and Katy Perry.

'Those two are very different artists from me,' Lewis insists. 'While I think they are quirky and cool, I would look weird if I went down the red carpet dressed as a red unicorn.'

She defended the hand that feeds her and insists The X Factor still has a place on our screens, despite a ratings slide in the current series.

'The show is still a great platform and opportunity, and has a huge following,' said Lewis, who tried her hand as a guest judge this year.

She's hoping to be back in the hot seat again one day, after performing on last night's show.

'It's something fun and I'd definitely be up for it one day,' she added.
