Victoria Pendleton has vowed to show critics that she is not a ' sobbing wreck' on Strictly Come Dancing after admitting that she gets emotional.
The cycling star was seen crying throughout the Olympic Games, but said that she will not be as tearful on Strictly as being judged on her dancing is not the same as her performance as a cyclist.
She told TV Biz: 'When you've made a lifetime commitment to something, it means so much to you that you are going to be emotionally affected at times.
'But I don't want to be portrayed as that person forever.
'I am thick-skinned and being judged on my dancing is not something that cuts that deep.'
Pendleton said that she would like to be mysterious, but is not a good actress and therefore her emotions can be an open book.
She said that those who mistake that openness for fragility are wrong and that she will be strong on the dance floor.
The Olympic gold medal winning cyclist has admitted to having traumas throughout her career and even self harmed to cope with the stress.
She went on to say: 'The more I perform, the more I hope people will see that I'm not some sobbing wreck.'
