Strictly Come Dancing star Victoria Pendleton won't be seen crying on the dance floor – at least not again.

The cycling queen is determined the BBC show won't turn her into an 'emotional wreck', despite blubbing after a poor show in her first outing.

It's also been claimed her hard-to-please partner Brendan Cole reduced her to tears during 30 hours of 'gruelling training' for the show.

The Olympic gold medallist said: 'I know I've been emotional in public before. Everyone saw me cry at the Olympics, but that was something I'd dedicated my life to.

'I put my heart and soul into every moment out on that track, so I don't think it's a bad thing I was passionate and showed it in public.'

Pendleton says she's made of sterner stuff, insisting: 'People are making out I'm falling apart at the seams  because they've seen me cry a couple of times, which is unfair.'

And she has defended her Strictly companion: 'Bringing Brendan into it, accusing him of being a taskmaster, is really unnecessary,' she said.

She told the Radio Times: 'So far, my emotional investment in the show has been fairly limited. I don't feel any pressure or anxiety. I see this as fun – although that might change as the weeks go by!'

Victoria, 32, had plenty to weep about after her cha-cha-cha landed her at the bottom of the table at the weekend, with 16 points out of 40.

Her performance was trashed by judge Len Goodman, 68, who said: 'You were like the first time you rode a bike without stabilisers.'
