X Factor boss Richard Holloway has slammed accusations the results show was fixed after he was seen speaking to Louis Walsh just before the judge sent the vote to deadlock, seeing Carolynne Poole lose out to Rylan Clark.
Carolynne Poole was sent home on Sunday night after the judges' vote went to deadlock, seeing Rylan Clark making it through to next week's live show.
The 63-year-old producer was seen crouched next to Louis' chair speaking to him while Poole was singing her heart out in the sing-off against Rylan.
But Walsh sent the vote to deadlock, meaning the decision was taken out of the judges' hands and would be decided based on audience votes.
And yesterday, amid the uproar of Rylan being saved, a man who claimed to be a member of the audience said he heard Walsh telling fellow judge Tulisa Contostavlos, who sits next to him on the panel, that he was told not to save Carolynne.
However, pouring cold water over these 'fix' allegations, Holloway insisted he had not rigged the votes.
'I did nothing wrong,' he told The Sun. 'We never tell the judges what to do.'
He said that he was simply telling Louis he would be voting last, adding that it would be virtually 'impossible' to say anything more given the loud music.
But there is still speculation that Louis - who did appear to agonise over who to save on Sunday night - deliberately sent the vote to deadlock to ensure Rylan stayed on the show.
Louis even said at one point: 'I want to save Carolynne,' before quickly telling Dermot, 'I'm going to take it to deadlock', instead.
When it was revealed Carolynne had pooled the lowest number of public votes, her mentor Gary Barlow stormed off the set in anger.
Despite Louis defending his decision on the Xtra Factor, saying he wanted to 'see who got the least amount of votes', Gary seethed his decision was 'ridiculous'.
Barlow told Carolynne: 'It's a joke. Two years running you have lost out to joke acts, Carolynne. It's ridiculous.'
Holloway's declaration comes as a former X Factor worker steps forward claiming judges are always briefed on how to vote.
'The judges are told who they should keep "for the sake of ratings",' the member of staff, who is thought to have worked on the ITV show for three years, is reported to have told the Daily Star.
