Katie Price has called off her engagement to Argentine lover Leandro Penna amid reports she is getting pally with X Factor hopeful Dan Ferrari-Lane.

The glamour model has been getting close to District 3's Dan ever since their mutual friend Rylan Clark introduced them two weeks ago.

But mum-of-three Katie has insisted her blossoming friendship with the 19-year-old wannabe has nothing to do with her split from Penna.

Dan, on the other hand, has made no secret of the fact the unlikely duo have been texting one another non-stop ever since their first meeting at the Corinthia Hotel in London, where most of The X Factor cohort are staying.

'She came up to the hotel to see Rylan and asked to meet me and the rest of the band,' Dan recently revealed.

'We went to her room and just chilled for a few hours.

'Rylan told me she fancied me and I thought, "Oh no, no way. Why would she fancy me?",' he told heat magazine.

However, a friend of Katie's has dismissed the reports as 'utterly ridiculous', adding that the texts sent between the two were 'innocent and platonic', The Sun has reported.

According to Jordan, 34, she and 27-year-old model Leandro 'mutually decided' to go their separate ways.

She explained: 'Leo and I have had a lovely fun time for a couple of years.

'We will always feel deep affection for each other - but sometimes relationships just run their course.

'We have spent a huge amount of time apart, even when we were in the same country, and it was difficult for the relationship to move forward,' she told The Sun.

She went on to explain the pair had separated on good terms and said whoever he eventually wound up with would be 'a very lucky girl'.

Leo told an Argentine website: 'I think it was best for us that we each followed our separate paths in life.'
