Kitty Brucknell has defended former X Factor mentor Louis Walsh after he controversially sent the vote to deadlock, condemning Carolynne Poole to be sent home ahead of Rylan Clark.
The former contestant was no stranger to controversy during her time on the show last year, with the singer even receiving death threats after her quirky antics enraged fans.
This year Kitty has been avidly watching the series at home, informing fans of her thoughts on the show via her Twitter account.
After Rylan and Carolynne ended up in the bottom two on yesterday's results show Kitty revealed her shock, writing: 'There's no way they are going to get rid of Rylan that quickly, surely. But Carolynne was tipped to win it!!!
'No no no!!!! WORST BOTTOM 2 EVER! this isn't right!!!!! Recount! Recount!'
After the sing-off Nicole and Gary opted to save their own acts, while Tulisa decided to save Carolynne.
The final decision then rested with Louis, who initially decided to save Carolynne before changing his mind and sending the vote to deadlock.
While many fans quickly blasted Walsh's decision, Kitty defended her former mentor, writing: 'I want to give Louis a hug. Right now.'
Louis claimed he opted for deadlock because he 'wanted to see who got the least amount of votes', adding that it was a 'tough' decision as 'Rylan is so entertaining but [Carolynne] sang her heart out there'.
Kitty agreed with her former mentor's reasoning, saying: 'Yes! Louis! Tell it like it is! I told you guys!!!!'
Host Dermot O'Leary subsequently revealed that Carolynne had received the fewest public votes and would be going home.
There was further grief for Louis after an image of the judge speaking to a producer during the show began circulating on Twitter, leading to claims of a 'fix' in some quarters.
