Christopher Maloney has hit out at X Factor viewers angry he is still in the show over Ella Henderson, insisting that if the public had wanted to save her, they could have.
The Liverpudlian singer made it through to this weekend's quarter final show last week as show favourite Ella Henderson was sent home following a controversial deadlock with James Arthur.
Maloney soon became the victim of vile death threats for still having a place in the competition though.
But now Christopher has moved to silence his haters, insisting if the public had wanted to keep Ella, they would have voted for her like his followers did him.
'The public are picking up the phone and voting for me. If they would have picked it up and voted for Ella or James and kept them in, then Ella would still be here,' Christopher said before adding: 'It's not my problem.'
And of his death threats, he told The Sun: 'I take the competition seriously but not to the point where someone wants to stab me.'
But despite the negative reaction Chris has had to face - including mixed comments from the judges every week who brand him 'cheesy' and 'cabaret' - Maloney has admitted he thinks he's in with a chance of winning.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, he said: 'I go out week after week and all I get is bad comments, but it's so close to the final now I could win.
'I'm working harder than any other contestant probably ever in the competition.'
