Speaking on The Xtra Factor after he had been eliminated from the show on Sunday night, the 24-year-old admitted that he was 'totally fine' with having been voted off - but added that while he would love to see one of his category crowned winner, Maloney could easily triumph.
'I'd love it honestly if one of my boys wins,' he said. 'But I think Chris has got a great chance, he's got a very strong chance, he's got a lot of support.'
However he also showed his support for James Arthur, saying: 'I think James might take it though.'
Former contestant Ella Henderson, who was one of the callers on The Xtra Factor last night, agreed with Rylan, and also tipped Maloney for a potential victory.
The 16-year-old - who made a shock exit from the competition last Sunday night - said: 'I don't know, it's going to be between Chris and James for me, watching it tonight.
'I honestly can't call it, I can't call it any more.'
Meanwhile, both acts remained non-committal about their chances, with James Arthur saying: 'It would be nice to be in the final. I honestly think that anyone can win at this point.'
Christopher Maloney added that making the semi-final was a 'dream come true' and paid tribute to Rylan, saying: 'It's an amazing feeling although I love Rylan, he's going to do really well, and I'm sad to see him go.It's just an amazing feeling, it's bittersweet isn't it?'
Jahmene Douglas and James Arthur are currently joint favourites to win the series at 11-8, while Maloney is just behind at 11-2 and Union J are the 10-1 outsiders.
