X Factor judge Gary Barlow has been awarded an OBE in recognition of his services to the entertainment industry and charity work over the past 20 years.
The Take That star was excited as he set off for Buckingham Palace today where he was presented with his honorary badge by Queen Elizabeth II.
He tweeted beforehand: 'I'm going to get my O.B.E. thank you for all your support over the last 21 years.'
It was announced the singer-songwriter would be receiving the nod after he masterminded the Diamond Jubilee Concert held outside Buckingham Palace in June.
The impressive display saw the likes of Cheryl Cole, The Military Wives Choir, Stevie Wonder, Sir Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney and Robbie Williams take to the stage.
He also co-wrote the Jubilee anthem with Andrew Lloyd Webber which went on to top the UK singles chart.
Barlow said in a statement that he had been surprised by the award and that it 'hadn't seemed real until today'.
And the 41-year-old's services to the entertainment industry and to charity is just one of several due to be dished out today.
Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet received a CBE for services to drama and Ryder Cup-winner Darren Clarke was awarded an OBE for services to golf.
