Lindsay Lohan has admitted she used to drink and drive because she was 'lonely'.
The Hollywood star is getting her butt into gear after blaming six arrests, five trips to rehab and spending time in jail on 'loneliness', 'sycophants' and a 'toxic' romance with Sam Ronson.
Putting her hands up in a candid interview, Lilo conceded: 'Kids go through ups and downs, try drugs, cigarettes and drinking. It's human nature.
'It took a while but it's like "What was I thinking? Why did I allow so many sycophants and bad influences to be around me?"
'I was lonely and didn't realise it. That's why I came back home to New York. I never feel lonely there. I see my family and have really good people in my life.'
Staring at more time in the slammer after being accused of lying to the police over who was driving during a smash earlier this year, Lohan proclaimed she'd tell her teen-self: 'Don't drink and drive! And be careful who you surround yourself with.'
She hasn't only met trouble on the roads – the redhead, 26, said life between her bed sheets also proved a minefield as well.
The Liz & Dick actress said her split with girlfriend Sam Ronson, 35, left her shattered.
'I was bold enough to say, "Yeah, I like a girl. And?" That put her in a situation where she was being attacked every day. That's not fair. And what am I left with? Heartbreak. That was three years ago. It was my last serious relationship,' she told US Weekly magazine.
'I need to love myself first before I could be with anyone else. Two toxic people cannot be together. We're friends now... I think that's how it was meant to be.'
