Like Christopher Maloney before him, The X Factor's Rylan Clark has quit Twitter after being plagued by 'disgraceful' homosexual abuse 'day in and day out'.
The X Factor star took to the micro-blogging site this afternoon to defend himself against the hurtful comments he has been inundated with over the past few weeks before announcing he was 'signing off'.
He began: 'Don't think people understand some of the stuff that I get sent day in and day out. Some of you should be locked away for your comments regarding my sexuality, it's absolutely disgraceful.
'Imagine that was your son or brother that was receiving those messages enough is enough.'
The 24-year-old hopeful went on to reveal his mum is seriously ill, insisting that he had done the decent thing and refused to use her condition as a ploy to get more votes on the show.
He continued: 'I'm a 24-year-old normal boy who has auditioned for Xfactor, never come from money, my mother is seriously ill, and not one have I used that as a sob story or a reason to validate my place on the show.
'I would rather be judged on the reason why I'm actually on the show to sing and perform.'
He added: 'I TOTALLY understand I haven't got the best voice in the competition but have proved that I can just stand there and sing. I love to perform hence the reason I like to put on a show every Saturday night.'
He then went on to thank those who have kept him in the competition so far.
'For those of you that have supported me thank you do much it means the world, unlike others, the truth will always out in the end and I look forward to the day when people see that I have been honest and genuine throughout and polite to everyone during this process,' he gushed.
'This is me signing off and look forward to meeting everyone that has supported me throughout sometime soon. Lots of love. Rylan x.'
Despite the abuse he has suffered, Rylan - who today celebrated Thanksgiving with his mentor Nicole Scherzinger - has proved to be one of the most popular contestants on the show this series.
Nevertheless, the former model is the bookmaker William Hill's favourite to get the boot this weekend with odds of 11/10.
Christopher Maloney is the 15/8 second favourite to be eliminated.
X Factor 2012 next elimination, according to William Hill:
