District 3 have been booted off The X Factor after losing the battle of the boy bands against fellow contestants Union J.
The three-piece were eliminated from the competition following a sing-off against Union J after the two groups had received the lowest number of public votes.
District3, who met at school, sang Bruno Mars' hit Just The Way You Are in a bid to stay in the competition while Union J performed Adele's Set Fire To The Rain.
Louis Walsh, mentor to both acts, chose not to pick between them. 'I'm not voting. I'm not sending one of these acts home – no way,' he said.
The decision was left to a majority decision from the other three judges.
Gary Barlow chose to ditch District3 after he was left 'disappointed' by their performance. Their fate was sealed when Nicole Sherzinger said Union J were 'a more mature' group.
This meant Tulisa Contostavlos' vote was rendered irrelevant – but she said she would have saved District3.
The two groups embraced after the decision was confirmed.
District3 member Greg West said: 'Performing every night has been the most phenomenal feeling.'
