McFly have let slip they fed One Direction their musical cast-offs when they were asked to write for the fellow boy band.

The pop rockers were hired to write songs for their fresh-faced chart successors but sneakily ended up slipping them their duff tracks.
Singer Tom Fletcher told Metro: 'We just worked on a couple of songs on their new album. They came over to do a writing session and I had a few song ideas.
'It's hard when you're writing for someone else. You obviously always want to do your best work but sometimes you write and have a song idea and you're like, "Oh, it's so good I want to keep it for us''.'
Bandmate Danny Jones said: 'You sent that slightly s***ter one, didn't ya?'
Fletcher continued: 'So I played them a few song ideas and they went for one of the others. I was like, yes!'
Despite pulling a fast one on the X Factor superstars, the lads have been bowled over by the 1D machine. McFly clocked up seven No.1s in their heyday.
Drummer Harry Judd said One Direction's success is like their own 'on a slightly bigger scale' while Fletcher observed: 'I mean, they're a complete phenomenon, aren't they? America and stuff is crazy for them.'
Meanwhile, Judd has revealed he won't be asking Fletcher to be his best man when he marries Izzy Johnston.
Fletcher had Judd, Jones and bassist Dougie Poynter as best men for his wedding to Giovanna Falcone in May but Judd said: 'I've got two – my brother and my other friend.
'I thought I'd do it differently to Tom because I don't have any other friends. If I had those two again, we might as well have had a shared wedding. They are ushers, though.'
